Sometimes we get questions about how we keep track of all the Barefoot Contessa recipes - now that Ina Garten's on her eleventh book, it gets a little tricky. My mom knows almost every Barefoot Contessa book by heart but I’m not so lucky so here’s my trick - the Barefoot Contessa Cookbook Index and a Personal Recipe File.
We are so excited to share some photos from the surprise birthday lunch we had for Cassandra earlier this month! Our Cassandra’s Kitchen team hosted a fun, casual outdoor lunch to celebrate Cassandra’s 40th birthday. We decided on the Grill Party Menu from Ina Garten’s Parties! Cookbook and we recruited Cassandra’s mom Barbara to help us put it all together. Our friend George Waldron brought his A-game and helped us create the most amazingly gorgeous cake ever.
As many of you know, my mom Barbara has been Ina Garten’s assistant for more than 20 years. What started as a part-time job working on The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook turned into an exciting, life-changing career and unique friendship. Last week my mom and I decided to have an early Mother’s Day brunch and cook together. Whenever my mother visits, we cook. Mother’s Day is no exception - she has so much wisdom in the kitchen and I’m always learning from her. We laugh and chat. If I happen to rush through things or get ahead of myself, my mom gives me the “that’s not how Ina does it” line. It’s wonderful.
Ina Garten’s cookbook 'How Easy is That?' is filled with amazing recipes that taste so good people will think you’ve spent all day cooking. Weeknight Bolognese is no exception. Like the name states, it’s a great dinner option to ‘throw together’ during the week. Yes it comes together easily, but it’s also a total crowd pleaser. Hearty and delicious and as Ina calls it ‘the perfect stick-to-your-ribs dinner on a cold night.’ Hopefully our cold nights are quickly coming to an end but until they do, we’ll be enjoying Weeknight Bolognese!
